This product is a continual-release flea & tick collar designed to provide up to 8 months of protection against fleas and ticks when used as directed. The collar also provides protection against chewing lice.

The pet collar is a dual-active ingredient formulation, containing the active ingredients imidacloprid (insecticide; acts on nicotinic acetylcholine receptors causing rapid paralysis/death in fleas) and flumethrin (synthetic pyrethroid acaricide; interferes with sodium channels causing tick avoidance/repellency, prevents biting, then paralysis/death).

The collar uses a polymer matrix that slowly and continuously releases the active ingredients (imidacloprid and flumethrin) in low concentrations over 8 months. After release, the active ingredients distribute topically across the skin and hair coat via the pet’s natural lipid layer rather than relying on systemic absorption.

The collar can be used on both dogs and puppies, with puppies needing to be at least 7 weeks of age. The PetArmor® Extend™ collar for dogs comes in two sizes for dogs weighing >18 lb and dogs/puppies weighing ≤18 lb.

No, the PetArmor® Extend™ collar works through topical application. The active ingredients distribute over the skin/hair coat via the pet’s lipid layer to kill fleas and ticks on contact, no biting needed to be effective.

Starts killing new ticks at 6 hours, 48 hours after application of the collar. Ticks already on your dog may not be killed right away. Remove any attached ticks when you apply the collar. Effective against fleas and ticks for up to 8 months.

The duration of the PetArmor® Extend™ collar maintains its full efficacy duration under normal conditions when exposed to water and the collar does not need to be removed during bathing or if dogs become wet. However, when dogs are bathed/immersed more than once monthly, the frequent water exposure may reduce the duration for tick protection to ~7 months and the duration of flea protection to ~5 months.

While adverse effects are rare, there is a chance that dogs not used to wearing the PetArmor® Extend™ collar may experience mild reactions, including scratching, redness, and hair loss. While these symptoms typically disappear without removing the collar within a couple of weeks, adverse reactions may be observed. Typical adverse reactions include the following, in order of decreasing reporting frequency: Pruritus, eczema, lethargy, behavioral disorders, application site reactions, anorexia, hyperactivity, muscle tremor, vocalization, convulsion, ataxia.

If the symptoms persist, remove the collar immediately and consult your veterinarian. Adverse events should be reported to Sergeant’s Pet Care Products, LLC 1-800-781-4738.

The collar should be kept away from children and children should not be allowed to play with or mouth the collar. The reflector pieces can pose a choking hazard. Avoid contact with eyes/skin/clothing and wash hands after fitting. Ensure a proper fit, which is important to ensure that dogs cannot chew the collar. Don’t attach a leash to the collar. Always consult a veterinarian before use in debilitated/aged/breeding/pregnant/nursing animals.

The PetArmor® Extend™ collar for dogs has been approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on June 23, 2025. All efficacy and safety claims were reviewed and approved by the EPA and the PetArmor® Extend™ collar for dogs was assigned the EPA Registration Number 2517-181. The registration issued represents an unconditional time-limited registration expiring July 13, 2028, which is a common type of registration for pet pesticide products and the registration can be extended.

Same active ingredients as top competitor

Strong smell as soon as opened from the bag but that’s expected and probably keeps ticks away. Noticed good ratings and same active ingredients as Seresto but Seresto doesn’t actually display the ratio of action ingredients. This is a little bit competitive pricing. It fits my large dog about 65lb and has more space. I have used Seresto in the past and haven’t had flea or tick issues so this should work as well. Thre durability is yet to be determined in long run. Because of enough length it’s not too tight around neck so it’s comfortable for the dogs

Works great

Been using this on my 60lb lab and wow, super easy. No smell, no greasy fur, and he doesn’t even notice it’s on. Fleas were gone in like a day or two. We’ve done rain, baths, mud… still works. Love that it lasts months so I don’t gotta remember monthly stuff. Price is way better than the vet brands too. Only thing, cut the extra collar length clean or it flaps. Would buy again for sure

sweet fit all flea collar

good size collar that came in a nice metal tin. that could be useful for other stuff.the material is rubbery like so its super nice to handle and even easier to put on, got a 20 lb Schnauzer mix and it was quite easy to put it on, my guy had no complaints, seems comfortable and has been wearing it for while now.just slide it on, and cut the leftover, so large that can fit a big dog no problem or adjust to smaller dogs, you just have to cut to fit. since the material is rubbery strong like, its bound to last for a long while, got no doubts on that.no side effects on my small doggie which is expected as its a known brand and has been effective so far at keeping fleas at bay, and it does work hard all day since my dog is mostly outside.pretty good value since i wont have to worry about it for a whole 8 months and that is something sweet to think about.

My dog has worn this collar 24/7 for a week to check for comfort and allergies. Since it’s winter time and less than 40 degree average temps I am unable to review the efficacy of the collar’s pest control. From a standpoint of comfort and allergies, my dog seems quite comfortable and has had no adverse reactions. The collar still looks and feels good, well fit and hasn’t loosened. My dog is a 40 lb beagle and the collar still has plenty of length to adjust for a larger neck. I will update again in the summer to check for pest control efficacy. From a fit, comfort, and allergen standpoint I think the collar is excellent.

A dogs best friend

We live on a farm and our dogs have pretty much free roaming outside. One in particular, the German Shorthair loves to go on walk about. Even though the temperature has gotten colder lately she still has been managing to find some fleas. We put this collar on her while outside and checked her after a bit and couldn’t find a single flea. She has since been outside roaming and we aren’t finding any fleas.

Keeps the fleas and ticks away really well

This collar works exactly as described and has been very effective at keeping fleas and ticks away. It’s easy to put on, doesn’t have a strong odor, and my dog has had no issues wearing it daily. The only reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five is because there is a noticeable powdery residue that can rub off onto your hands or your dog’s fur, especially when first putting it on. It’s not a dealbreaker and doesn’t affect how well it works, but it is something to be aware of. Overall, it’s a solid product and I would still recommend it.

Great for our large outdoor dog

We live in the country where there are a lot of ticks and fleas in the warmer months, so it's important that our dogs have protection. We have 2 dogs; one small mixed breed and one large dog that is a Great Pyrenees. This tick and flea collar is perfect for him. It fits his neck as it should and fastens easily. I will probably put a small rivet or other fastener to keep it secure because our dogs like to roam the woods and they often lose their collars due to snagging them on something. This collar is clean with no residue and arrived well sealed; both in a plastic pouch, and also in a metal can. I haven't put it on the dog yet because we are in the dead of winter, so no bugs out right now. It should work great this spring and summer when everything wakes up.

I got this for my large dog and I am happy with the product so far. The best part about this collar is that it is light and easy to adhere to my dog. This collar also works for about eight mouths which is fantastic because of how long it is effective. This product is good value for money because of how long the active ingredients are effective. This collar not only repels fleas and ticks but it also kills them. I like to give my dog a shower especially when he has been outside and the fact that this collar is water resistant I don't have to worry about taking the collar off. After inspecting the collar, I was happy to find that it is odorless and non-greasy. This was very important to me especially because my dog is always with me and I wouldn't want to be smelling a chemical. I also love the fact that this is non greasy so when my dog goes out in the rain or after a shower, he does not leave any greasy residue all over the house.

Seems to work

I really like this collar. It is easy to fit on my dog and cut away the excess. It stays on too. I also like that it isn't greasy or wet to the touch. It has more of a dry powder feel. My dog doesn't seem bothered by it at all and I haven't noticed any irritation to his skin. So far there hasn't been any signs of fleas or ticks either. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is that when you first take it out of the package there is a strong smell. It lasts only for a little while; but you may want to wait to put it on your dog until they are going to spend a little bit of time outside to let it air out.

Bought in April 2026 after seeing several ticks on my dog that loves to roam the woods. Saw that this more affordable option had great reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. Since putting the collar on my dog has had ZERO ticks/fleas. I am so happy with this purchase. It performs as well as collars twice it's price and sure beats expensive monthly pills. I have noticed no side effects what so ever as well which is also a huge a plus.
